What gear do you use?
You'll probably laugh but I love to repurpose what I can. For lighting, I use an old set of Phillip Hue Bulbs mounted into workshop clamp lamps I have laying around. To soften the light I cut out the fresnel and diffusion layers from a broken TV then mounted (taped) them onto the lamp housing. The camera I use is the humble yet reliable Canon Rebel SL1 and for audio, I use HyperX's wonderfully crafted Quadcast condenser microphone.
Where do you get inspired to create new content?
So many places. When it comes to video references I'm really impressed with Slidebean's Youtube series for startup news and tips, Flutter's channel for presenting developer content, Balena's Happy Hour series for running casual yet very nerdy discussions and DIY Perks for discovering all sorts of great ways to upcycle things.
What was your biggest lesson learned from creating videos?
My strongest advice to startups considering video creation is to block off A LOT of time for it. At least when you're starting. It's not like writing a blog, giving a presentation, designing beautiful graphics, or picking out music for your wedding - it's all of these orchestrated together.
